End Slavery this End of Financial Year.
We need your help now more than ever to put an end to slavery.
Today we find ourselves at an urgent crossroads in our mission to end trafficking, slavery, and abuse. Imagine dedicating three decades to a cause, only to see the issue get worse and spread, due to global crises and conflicts. This situation doesn't make us give up; it makes us want to help even more because the people we're trying to help need us now more than ever.
Survivor Care
Hagar's safe homes and community-based care programs provide individualised support to women and children who have suffered human trafficking, slavery and abuse.
How we end slavery
Preventing Exploitation
We equip and train at risk communities, survivors and their families and communities to stop trafficking and exploitation before it starts.
Strengthen Systems
Through partnership with local communities, national governments and global leaders, we work to transform the systems that perpetuate abuse.
Malis Story
Growing up in a financially unstable family on the outskirts of Phnom Penh City, Cambodia, Malis took on the responsibility of supporting her family at a young age. At 16, she left home to work in the garment industry, hoping to alleviate their financial struggles. However, she fell victim to the false promises of a wealthy Chinese man and was forcibly taken to China. There, she endured two years of captivity, being forced into sexual activities and domestic servitude. Despite multiple failed attempts to escape, she was eventually arrested and brought back to Cambodia.
Hagar supported Malis upon her return, providing necessary healthcare, counselling, and basic necessities at the Home of Love. They also helped her reintegrate with her family and funded a new fishing boat for their future. This enabled them to earn a sustainable income and allowed Malis to pursue educational and career opportunities, including learning Chinese.
Today, Malis is an inspiring leader in her community, symbolising resilience. As a Chinese interpreter in Phnom Penh, she not only improves her family's living conditions but also empowers and protects other women by sharing her experiences and raising awareness about human trafficking. Her journey from exploitation to advocacy showcases her strength and the important role Hagar played in her recovery and success.
Three Decades of Transformation
At the heart of Hagar's mission lies a commitment to creating possibilities for people who have endured the unimaginable horrors of slavery and human trafficking. Through a comprehensive approach that spans from rescue to recovery and reintegration, Hagar not only offers a safe haven but also a platform for sustainable empowerment. By providing tailored education, vocational training, and emotional support, Hagar ensures that each individual they touch is equipped with the tools and confidence to rebuild their lives. This transformative journey opens doors to new beginnings, where once there were none, turning the dream of a life filled with freedom, dignity, and opportunity into a tangible reality. Through these efforts, Hagar is not just changing lives; it's sculpting a future where the possibilities are as boundless as the resilience and strength of the women and children it serves.
