Cambodia Urgent Appeal
Every day, children who have endured the horrors of human trafficking and abuse come to Hagar seeking safety, healing, and hope. But right now, the US Government Foreign Aid Freeze threatens our ability to provide the life-saving care hundreds of survivors desperately need.
Without immediate support, abused and exploited children could be left without shelter, trauma-informed care, and legal aid. Will you help bridge the gap?
Survivors Like Sophea Need You
Sophea (name changed for safety) is just 10 months old and has already experienced abuse. She also has a disability, making her more vulnerable to trafficking and abuse. Because of Hagar’s supporters, and generous USAID funding, Sophea was welcomed into a trauma-informed Hagar foster family where she has received the professional and loving care needed to grow and thrive.
But right now, the care Sophea and hundreds of children receive through Hagar is under threat. Currently, we have 33 child survivors just like Sophea in care in Siem Reap:
10 survivors in 10 foster families
21 survivors in kinship care families
2 survivors in family of origin placements
To ensure continued support for these children from 25 January to 30 June 2025, we urgently need $61,741 to sustain our core operations, including:
Providing direct care and support for child survivors in foster and kinship care
Supplying essential resources to foster and kinship care families, including case management, counselling, and legal services
Advocating for budget allocation for kinship and foster care at the district level
Offering mentoring and coaching support to foster and kinship care families
Maintaining the kinship care and foster care network
Strengthening sub-national coordination and referral pathways for family-based alternative care
Providing capacity building for sub-national duty bearers
Covering the salaries of two case managers, one counsellor in Siem Reap, and partial support for other essential staff
